Welcome to FPC
We are a historic downtown church formed in 1838. Our original Sanctuary was built in 1872. Today it serves as our Fellowship Hall, Friendship Hall, and Chapel. Our current Sanctuary was completed in 1896. For more than 140 years the faithful has gathered every Sunday in our Sanctuary to worship the God who redeems. We have a long history of commitment to ministry, establishing churches and ministries, building homes and strengthening families.
We take our responsibility to build upon such a historic foundation seriously. We are an active church! Our facilities are constantly in use. Our signature ministry endeavor is our mid-week LOGOS program, attracting over 100 children and adults each week. Our facilities are used by Young Life, Habitat for Humanity, Hospice of Huntington, Ronald McDonald House, Fighting Hunger Food Bank, Recovery Point and Team of West Virginia. We host the annual Empty Bowls fundraiser, a collaborative event between Marshall University, Christian Associates, the downtown churches, the B’nai Synagogue, local restaurants, and area potters.
Our signature mission endeavor is the Cabwaylingo Presbyterian Chapel located in Dunlow, WV. In this impoverished southern Wayne County community, the Chapel is a beacon of God’s mercy, grace, and love. Almost every child in the area is involved in our community children/youth ministry. Our food pantry serves over 200 families a month. Our home rehabilitation ministry repairs over 20 homes annually and builds a new home every year. Every year students and adults travel to Dunlow from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, Connecticut, Ohio, and Kansas to share the love of Christ.
